Drifting the Hump

Got a text from Tim about hiting the Humptulips for the bait opener. Of course I ould go. Had to settle for a Sunday drift since we had a birthday party to go to on Saturday. I met Tim and Nate at the Copalis Crossing ramp at 5:30 a.m. we were on the water by 6 and heading to the first hole in the dark. We arrived to the chosen hole to find a boat already there. Good thing Tim knew who it was and we dropped anchor beside them without incident. Action was slower than what they had yesterday. I lost 2 kings on eggs and float. Tim also lost 1 and let a dark one go. Nate hooked 2 unclipped silvers. The bite soon died and we moved on. We didn't hook another fish until the last part of the drift. Luckily it was a king hen an Tim was able to replenish the bait supply.
