Smash and Grab

Friday, Oct 29. Took advantage of a furlough day and went to the Willapa spot on a solo mission. Left the house at 3:30 and got there around 5:30 a.m. Still dark so I tried to nap in the truck while I waited closer to shooting time. Finally got going at around 6:15. 1 hour before shooting time.

Made 2 trips to get all the decoys. Set all 4 dozen duck decoys and got done just about shooting time. First 2 ducks set down a few minutes after shooting time and it was game on. Took down a nice drake Widgeon. Limited out by 8:30. 1 mallard hen, 2 pintails, and the rest were Widgeon. Only saw about a dozen teal and I only wanted to shoot at big ducks. Mission accomplished. Back home at 11:15.
