Westport Ground and Pound

Mike, Trent, Tom and I headed out of Westport for the last day of halibut season. We were excited for a nice forecast. Only, it didn't turn out to be that nice. Smooth seas running out, but as soon as we hit 40 miles the wind already came up. We tried to get our halis as quickly as possible. The wind waves made it impossible to reach bottom without having to back down. Backing down in steep and close wind waves also presented the risk of swamping my motors. After about 5 drifts, we called it good and made the long trek back home.

New Pot Puller

Did some more Shrimping. Friday, no problem getting limits for 6. Saturday was different. We struggled to get a limit for 5 and only ended up with 3 limits. I concluded that the consecutive days didn't allow for the shrimp to recover and congregate. Thanks to Tom, we scored a Robsinson Retriever. A pot puller that I've liked because it is almost hands-free.

Shrimping with the Family

It's May now and that means shrimping! Got the family together and went to the Hood Canal. We enjoyed our friend's company while we waited for "go" time. We had a flotilla of 4 boats. Mike, Tom, and Duane. Easy limits for everyone.
