Clint's Holiday

Clint was home for a week so we made arrangements to hunt together. Willapa was on the hit list and I put him and Doug at the point while I took my Marsh Rat to the river side. I had a good shoot but missed A LOT! Took me over a box of shells to shoot 7 ducks. Clint and his grandpa got 7 ducks too.

Went to the beach the next day and wasn't good. We still shot some birds, but the action was pretty slow.

The Sneeze

Jafet and I headed for the Willapa determined to hunt the river side. Nice morning with light winds from the east to northeast. We had mallards in the decoys at 3 minutes before shooting time. And then Jafet sneezed...party over. We had a pair of mallards decoy and I took the drake. Also shot a pinny and a widgeon. Jafet shot a bufflehead.

Rebuilding the Beach Spot Blind

Last week with the high tides our blind that has been standing for about 2 season was finally washed away. Jafet and I met Tim today to rebuild and hunt a little. Jafet and I went to the marsh, but nothing flew. Tim got a few willing birds and got a nice drake and hen pintail. We had some widgeon decoying but we missed. I shot 1 hen gadwall.
