Unproductive 2 Days Duckin' After Turkey Day

I hunted with Jafet for 2 days. Willapa on Friday and the beach on Saturday. Only got one Pintail at the Willapa and 3 Widgeon at the beach. I was missing a lot and I think my problem was not leading enough.

Willapa Bust

Went to the Willapa with Marc after the 2 day blow. Saw a few mallards flying a little higher than what I expected with the low clouds. Birds didn't decoy at all. Marc took down a hen mallard and I took my first bluebill.

Spoon City

Nov 19, 2011. I hunted with Tim at the beach spot. Good wind, right direction, no rain, some clouds. We had ducks around the decoys before shooting time. They moved off to the corner of the bay at shoot time. The birds stayed away from our spread for a good hour. Don't know why. We finally shot and I fell a Spoonie and Tim got a young drake Mallard. Then nothing for 2 hours. I decided to camp out at the marsh. I had some good pass shooting opportunities and filled my limit with almost all Spoonies and 1 drake Widgeon and a hen Mallard.

Banded Pintail!

Went to the Willapa with Jafet. Slow early morning but it finally picked up at the tide change. Lots of birds, although we didn't get our limits. We were 2 short. Jafet had a 2 for 1 shot and 1 of them was banded!
