More Westport Salmon Action

The forecast for the weekend was going to be amazing. SO I lined up a crew for the entire weekend. I had Tom, Chris, and new guy Eli join me on Saturday. We headed for where I caught the kings on Wed. We only got cohos so I decided to move and head for the fleet. It was a good decision. As soon as we get there the bite turned on and we quickly got more cohos and 2 kings. On Sunday, Brian joined us and replaced Chris. It was much slower. We got a 15 and another 23ish king. On the last hour or so we hooked into a monster. We get it close to boat and noticed it was coming in backwards. It was wrapped around the line. When it got close to the boat, it went ape shit and broke the line. IN the process it also ripped off the engine cover latch on my kicker!

More Westport Kings

Couldn't resist the nice weather forecast and the 2 king limits. Kandi and Tom went with me. I went back to the same area I fished with Mike. 46 51.473 x 124 25.972. We got some decent King action. Even got a double header on the downrigger. Biggest fish though was only 25 lbs. We took home 5 kings and 1 coho.

Big Kings at Westport, August 3

Couldn't pass up a flat water forecast. I join Mike, Dane, and Harry to look for some big Kings in Westport. Made the run 15 miles west on a 270 degree heading. Started trolling and hooked up not too long after dropping the lines. Bite wasn't wide open by any means, but we did eventually get our Kings. I got in the biggest at 34 pounds. We also got 2 in the 20 lb range and one mid teen fish. Flashers and green glow platter back hoochies did the job. The cohos just weren't around in numbers. Maybe later this month.
