The Quest is Over

I had to pull the trigger. The 2008 prices means another 5 to 10% increase on boats, motors, and gadgets. I have been going back and forth between a regular North River Seahawk vs. the offshore hull. I finally decided I wanted the bigger hull for ocean duties. We are now the proud owners of 24' 2007 North River Seahawk OS.

She's powered by twin Suzuki DF140s. Should be plenty of ocean conquering power. We got the boat at Puget Marina. It has been a very pleasant experience. Puget Marina is a one-stop family run marine shop and boat dealership. Suzuki is their bread and butter and they have been representing North River for the last 5 years.

The boat will be equipped with the following:
Furuno 1623 Radar
Lowrance X37c GPS/Sonar
Icom 304 VHF radio
2 Scotty 1106 Downriggers.

Neah Bay 2007

Another Neah Bay trip in the books. This trip was spectacular. We had great weather and mild seas for 5 days. We fished mostly in the Canadian Swiftsure area. I've never seen so many whales in my life. There were a lot of krill in the water. Below the krill were herring. Chasing the herring were salmon and dogfish. Then the whales were feeding on the krill. Pods of Orcas were hunting the salmon. It was an incredible experience.

It was a little tough finding the halibut and the kings. Our tally for the week were 75 rockfish, 2 lings, 31 coho salmon, 10 halibut, and 1 king.
